Editorial Notes
This is the sole extant movement of the Mass Ordinary composed by Hildegard, contained within the Riesencodex (f. 472 verso). The use of B-flat is inconsistent in the hand-written manuscript, only appearing once within the statement of the third line. I recommend applying this lowered fourth (b-flat) throughout the piece as indicated in the score.
There is also a textual elision between each word in the source, i.e. “Kyrieleison,” rather than the more standard text, “Kyrie eleison.” I have included the original version in this edition.
