PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Not too far from Sherwood Forest, this evocative program draws us into the medieval imagination, set deep within the green and shady woods where lovers come to meet and where the heartbroken flee the world.

Sometimes sumptuous, sometimes playful, Eya explores the music of medieval France in Greenwood, including the achingly beautiful melodies of the trouvères, playful tunes of Adam de la Halle from Le Jeu de Robin et Marion, unusual Parisian motets of the 13th century, and the perfectly-crafted music of Guillaume de Machaut (1300-1377).
