Community Workshop: Sing with Eya

November 16, 2020 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

$18

TICKETED EVENT

Join the women of Eya for the final of six sessions of our Community Workshop.

Throughout this workshop you will learn how to sing the music of Hildegard von Bingen from the original 12th-century notation, learn about Hildegard’s life and musical legacy, and gain a deeper understanding of the interpretation of medieval music.

Our meetings will begin with guided breathing and a reading from Hildegard’s visionary works, and then we will learn and sing several of her pieces over the course of several weeks. We will teach you how to read and sing from the original 12th-century notation, using a modern transcription as a guide.

No prior experience is necessary, and all levels are welcome. Bring your open mind and a willingness to participate.

The Community Workshop meets for six consecutive weeks on Zoom (starting Monday, Oct 12 through Nov 16). The fee for drop-in sessions are $18 per meeting. *This event is included in the Rare Gem Season Subscription

As part of our larger initiative to celebrate and heal the voices of women, we will feature several films as part of this community event. Over the course of each week, we will screen two films that explore the diverse voices of women. This week features part 2 of 2 of (In)visible Portraits.

25% of proceeds for this event support programs for women of color in support of justice for Breonna Taylor.
